Please, help me to make the right choice

Hi, everybody. Iíve decided to write here because I really need your help. I know that it was long time since anyone had written anything here. However, I want to post my story. Maybe, there will be anyone who will read my story and then help me in some way. Iím 36 years old and I have problems with my ovaries. When I was 26 I had a large cyst on my left ovary and a small one my right one. Both of the cysts were removed surgically. My problems with fertility started exactly after the surgery had been performed. My hubby and I have been TTC for 3 years. Then we contacted the fertility specialist and he advised us IVF. We had two attempts and both of them turned to be BFN. Finally, we decided to take a donor egg. Unfortunately, there isnít any one in Canada who would like to donate eggs to us, so we decided to visit Ukraine. This country has a very friendly egg donation legislative base. Egg donation can be done on commercial basis there. We contacted one Ukrainian clinic. It was Biotexcom. The clinic is situated in Kiev, the capital city. Weíve chosen it because it has quite a lot of favorable feedbacks on various fertility forums. However, when we came to Ukraine and visited this clinic, we were a little bit shocked. Firstly, itís difficult to call Bitexcom a clinic because it doesnít look presentable. The clinic is situated in a small private mansion. Can a respectable medical establishment be located in private house??? Of course, not!!!! As the building where the clinic is situated is tiny, its halls are always overcrowded. Every time I visited the clinic, it was always overcrowded: a large queue near the reception desk, large queues near the doctorís offices and treatment rooms!!! If this clinic has so many patients, why donít they open other agencies??? The clinic isnít a selective one. They deal with everybody. When we were sitting and waiting our queue to consult a GP in the clinic, we saw people of various nationalities. Some of them were behaving rather weird. We became witnesses of small conflict, when a dark-skinned man told one guy that he was gazing at his wife!!!! I thought that they were going to fight!!!! The atmosphere in the clinic is very noisy. I saw loads of couples with small children. Some of them are crying, and it causes an additional discomfort. Some words about the doctorsÖ When I met the doctor in charge of our program, I noticed that she was extremely tired. She seemed to be a good specialist, but she spoke with us very formally. When I tried to get some additional details, she looked at me angrily, so I decided not to do it. I think doctors in Biotexcom are too busy and tired. The clinic owners should take more care of their employees if they want to attract more clients. Of course, we havenít signed up the contract and decided to think everything thoroughly. Iím just curious to know if the clinic has so many patients, can it serve all its clients properly??? Is there anyone here who has contacted it or any other Ukrainian clinics??? Please share your experience.

The clinic sounds very similar to top clinics in London such as the ARGC, in private, old houses, very busy and crowed. It's just the style of some IVF clinics.

In terms of donor eggs, Spain is the largest supplier of donor eggs in Europe, so I would consider going there. The IVF clinics look more like hospitals and the staff are very nice.

I think you should pay attention to the clinicís success rates. If they are good, I think, itís worth dealing with them. I used to be a patient of one clinic where I tried to cure my uterus synechias. When I visited them for the first time, I liked everything: the building, the staff, the doctors. My doctor was so nice. She told me that all I need were a surgery and a coil and then I would be a mum. However, the surgery didnít help and the coil too. All I got was a big hospital billÖ

Oh, hun! How terrible! I hope youíve found a good clinic to cure your synechias. Iíve decided to contact biotexcom cause Iíve found quite a lot of favorable feedbacks about this clinic on various fertility forums. The former patients of this clinic praise the doctors who work there. They seem to be good specialists. The clinic also has a good package of services for very reasonable prices. These are the main reasons why I decided to contact them.

Hi, Miss J. Ukrainian fertility clinics are really popular among infertile couples around the world, but Iím not sure that they should be dealt with. Most of them offer services at very cheap prices. I donít think itís fair as they use the eggs of poor young women who do it cause they need money drastically. In my opinion, egg donors should be treated well because they give infertile women opportunity to conceive. They deserve the best from the best!!! Did you ask your program manager to tell you about the way they treat the egg donors?

I quite agree with you, TG135. And I wouldnít like to deal with the clinic that isnít an ethical one. Iím ready to pay for the donor egg and I want my egg donor to be treated the best as she really deserves it. I asked the clinicís manager about it and she reassured us that the egg donors are treated well there. They get decent money compensation for their eggs. All transporting and accommodation expenses are paid by the clinic. The clinic is also rather selective. They have certain requirements for the women who are to become an egg donor. The woman who wants to donate her eggs should be from 18 to 25 years old. She must be healthy. Her relatives (including, parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles) should be healthy too.

Miss J, I donít think that ED is a good choice. They may find a healthy donor for you, but will this woman resemble you in some way? People are unique. Even twins have certain differences. Why donít you want to adopt? Itís nearly the same. At least, you will make one more child in this world happier.

We thought of doing this. My hubby and I decided to give birth to least one of our own child. Then we may adopt. I know that the child Iíll conceive with the help of a donor egg wonít be mine. But it will be my husbandís baby. I love him very much, and he dreams so much of having his own son or daughter. The clinicís representatives promised us to show a donorís 3d photo. So weíll be able to see the woman whoíll agree to donate her eggs to us

Hi, Miss J. I would also ask you about the they way youíre going to pay for the clinicís services. Will you do it in cash or use a bank transfer? I know that fertility clinics like to charge additional fees from their clients. Does the clinic youíve got interested in do the same?
P.S. Just be cautious with such things! I wish you good luck, dear!

I donít think Biotexcom will charge any additional fees from us. The company manager told us that weíll have to pay only a fixed sum. It means no additional fees will be charged from us. Weíll do it either via a bank transfer or in cash. However, she warned us about the fines the clinic charges from its patients. If we donít do certain medical tests in time or donít visit the clinic on the exact day, weíll have to pay for it. Do you think itís fair?
