Did you know that IVF increases you and your baby's chances of developing cancer?

If you knew and were told by your IVF clinic that undergoing IVF increases your risks of developing cancer and in your children, would you still do it?

It's hard to answer strictly... On the one hand woman desperately wants to have children and she can't. IVF is her only chance. Yes, it increases risks of cancer but doesn't give 100% prognosis. On the other hand risks can be high. What mother would put her child's life in pain and suffering? Also there is risk for woman to die and left her kid an orphan. There is still adoption option. Many couples want to have blood-related kids. Donít get me wrong, I think adoption is a very good thing. But not everyone is ready to make this step. Personally for me it's really hard to make a definite answer. I think all depends from situation and doctor's recommendations. I had IVF with donor eggs a couple of months ago. I should say this information is confusing for me now...

This will leave me in such a dilemma. Maybe I really need a child. Then the news also are not good. However I will have to think myself out. Try to weigh the pros and cons. like which kind of cancer will I be suffering from. If it is breast cancer then I will have a mastectomy before. This is to reduce the potential of getting affected in future. But if it is the other types of cancer that do not have any prevention. That will be a bit tricky to me. And if my child is also affected with cancer. I will only see her or him for a short period. During that period it will also mean will have to waste money on the medication. I will talk to the doctor. This is to get his idea. I will also see my family for advise. because sometimes these doctors tell you this and it does not happen. Like I have a friend who was told she only had 1 month to live. She was suffering from leukemia. It was at its critical condition and nothing could be done. But as I am typing this, it has been over a year. She healthy and fine. So under that, it will have me thinking much.
